A little back story…

Hello, my name is Luke and I am a thirty-something traveller from the south-coast of England. I am currently on the road as a full-time traveller, part-time volunteer and many other things besides.

I decided to have a change of career and lifestyle after feeling life had become a bit stale. As part of this, I’m currently travelling around the world to spend time experiencing new places, people and cultures full-time, rather than just in my annual holiday.

I’ve travelled already to Western Europe, Canada and South-East Asia (my favourite!). I’m hoping to revisit a number of places as well as experiencing places and people that are completely new. My philosophy in general is, please excuse the cliche, to travel slow. That means spending more time in a place or country, rather than trying to get through as many places/countries as possible. In this way it is possible to learn much more about a place and people than rushing off to reveal that scratch map on the wall!

Apart from travelling, I also enjoy running, swimming and racquet sports. Music is also a passion of mine both listening to and playing clarinet, saxophone, acoustic and bass guitar. Perhaps I’ll be able to do those things while abroad (if you bump into me, don’t worry I’m not taking a guitar with me and won’t become the much-maligned ‘guitar guy’!). Aside from music, I also love roller-coasters and adrenaline sports, baked beans, clowns and reality TV shows not so much (World Cup?….meh).

This website

The aim of this website is to act as log of the adventures I’ve been up to and to share thoughts, perspectives and may be a few tips too. It can be difficult in the crowded field of travel blogging to offer anything truly unique (sorry about that!). Therefore, I hope to share some of my experiences with you and keep the updates coming. Remember: for those on social media I have Instagram and Twitter accounts which contain news and photos as well. Perhaps in the future a newsletter could materialise, it’s something I am looking into at the moment.

I hope you enjoy my updates, blogs, tweets, photos and the like: links to all of those are all over the place!

Keep that chin up,

Luke.
